What people are saying about Blue Zones Project
“Hawai‘i Electric Light is proud to be recognized as a Blue Zones Project Approved worksite on Hawai‘i Island. Our employees pledged to make small changes like eating healthy, joining a Moai, finding their purpose, and volunteering in our community. The results have been very positive. Employees feel healthier, happier, and more energetic. The Walking Moai and volunteer activities fostered friendships between employees from different areas of the company and improved collaboration and morale. We became a better place to work, which helps us make our community a better place to live.”

“We’re pleased that since we implemented Blue Zones Project in our stores, our produce sales have risen 8 percent and our sales of natural items are up by 18 percent (as of Sept 2019). Not only are we encouraging our customers to choose healthy options, but our bottom line has increased, which was an added bonus for us!”

“Partnering with Blue Zones Project has opened our eyes in viewing the definition of health and wellness. There’s not just the physical aspect but also mental well-being which is just as important. We plan to create an environment that will be geared to the betterment of our employees for years to come.”
