Born and raised on Maui, Laksmi graduated from Maui High School and earned a B.A. in Political Science from San Francisco State University. Prior to joining the team, Laksmi dedicated 17 years to serving Maui’s community as President & CPO of Maui United Way. Aspiring to expand her ability to impact community wellness and initiate positive change, Abraham joined Blue Zones Project – Central Maui as Community Program Manager. As a community champion for Maui County, Laksmi has led fundraising campaigns to raise nearly 18 million dollars for non-profits, led an effort to remodel Maui’s only woman’s shelter, created a financial assistance program for displaced workers, created Maui’s largest Holiday Toy Drive, and fostered partnerships with over 50 health and human service organizations. In 2015, she was honored as Maui Non-Profit Director’s (MNPD) Executive Director of the Year. As a volunteer, Laksmi has served on various non-profit, government and union committees, Chaired the MNPD’s Board, and currently serves as Treasurer for Maui United Soccer Club. Laksmi has enjoyed a long career playing collegiate and semi-professional soccer and has coached for almost 20 years. Laksmi comes to Blue Zones Project to change lives for the better. Michael Jordan put it best, “Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.”  Laksmi is here to make it happen!
